Summary of the City of Eudora Fire Department

The City of Eudora Fire Department is a small city department serving a population of 6,500. Located just west of the Kansas City metro area, Eudora is in transition from a sleepy farming town to a burgeoning bedroom community. The population has doubled in the last ten years. Former cornfields are now sprawling new middle class neighborhoods. Eudora, located in eastern Douglas County, has become a desirable place to live due to its proximity to Lawrence and the KC metro area.

The City of Eudora Fire Department consists of 30 plus paid-per-call volunteers. The department is lead by a full time chief. All firefighters for the department are required to have Firefighter 1 & 2 within two years of hire, along with CPR, Hazardous Materials Operations, and federally required courses in Incident Command. The department operates EMT-Intermediate level first response emergency medical service for the city of Eudora.  Personnel are split into shifts to provide around the clock coverage for the community.

It's all about volunteers!
